Puget Sound II

Army boys

After pulling up the crab pots (which are actually wire baskets, not pots), the crabs have to be extracted and measured. If they are too small they need to be thrown back into the water so they can grow (and reproduce) more. This red rock crab is a keeper.

We found this ugly starfish on the bottom of the sound. I learned that starfish often have a hideous surplus of legs so a five-point one is a score. Abby is going to dry it out to use as a decoration.

The bottom of the starfish looks and feels like macaroni noodles! The top is very sharp and scratchy.
