Our tour stopped at the Robie House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. I think the most interesting thing about Frank is how amazing he was at convincing people that his work was valuable. It's weird, but is it beautiful? Is a unique style, creativity, and a salesman's personality all you need to become a famous architect? Our guide said that Frank designed each room with a specific purpose in mind and that he told his clients what each one should be used for. But wouldn't you do the same if you designed a house? Maybe Frank is famous because he got so creative with residential design. It doesn't seem like architects do that very often. I wish they would. If I design a house it'll be as weird as one of Frank's. Hopefully more cozy though.
Unfortunately we could only take pictures from the outside of the house. This is a view of the basement windows. Above the windows is a balcony and you can see a bunch of columns peeking over it ... between each one of them is a door. These balcony doors were an entire wall of one of the long rooms inside.
