Chicago Architecture Tour - iit student center

We stopped at the iit campus to see a couple of buildings. This one was the most interesting, and defnitely the most ugly from the outside. The building was designed to unite the two sides of campus on either side of the El line. The giant tube is a sound barrier for the train that runs across the top of the building. You can't really see the details in this picture, but someone decided to trim the roof in some sort of purple animal print and then put the name of the building on orange lettering on top of that. :-o

Thankfully the inside of the building was much cooler. The translucent orange walls were neat.

They also had some rasterbations on glass walls that were interesting.
